SSC Specialist Security secure podium finish at annual charity golf day, raising £2,607 for Prostate Cancer UK
The 5th annual East Midlands Railway Charity Golf Day teed off in style at Morley Hayes Golf Club on Thursday 26th June 2025, raising an impressive £2,607 for Prostate Cancer UK — and just missing the top spot were none other than SSC Specialist Security.

As one of the proud event sponsors, SSC Specialist Security not only backed the day but claimed a top 3 spot too. Led by their Managing Director Chris Catchpole as team captain, with Jody Kane, Kian Simpson and Shane Mosley. SSC clinched second place in a dramatic three-way tie on count back with a total of 57 points.

Chris Catchpole said:
“We were absolutely delighted to support such a great cause. It was a fantastic day of golf, topped off with a brilliant evening — and of course, an incredible result for the SSC team!”
The event brought together 84 golfers, including EMR staff, rail industry contractors, Network Rail, and valued sponsors like SSC, all united for a worthy cause. Kicking off with breakfast and goodie bags, players enjoyed a special trick-shot masterclass from PGA Professional David Edwards before heading out onto the course for a team scramble competition. On-course challenges such as nearest the pin and longest drive kept the competitive spirit alive, with more prizes up for grabs.

A raffle, refreshments buggy, and incredible support from volunteers helped push the fundraising total to new heights. Over the five years of the EMR Charity Golf Day, the event has now raised £7,072.78 for charity — and donations are still coming in.

Special thanks go to all golfers, volunteers, and sponsors for their outstanding contribution both on and off the course.

Planning is already underway for the 2026 event, with hopes of making it even bigger and better. If you'd like to get involved, please contact Jono Todd at emrgolfday@gmail.com.

HIGH-TEC CAMERAS TO PROTECT WOMEN AND GIRLS FROM VIOLENCE UNVEILED IN WORKSOP
A network of pioneering refuge points enabling women to make video-recorded SOS calls to police when they need help has been unveiled in Worksop for the first time.
Safety officers from Bassetlaw District Council have been working with Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry and CCTV firm SSC Specialist Security Ltd to develop five Safer Refuge Points across the town whereby members of the public, especially women and girls, can instantly alert Police Control Room staff when they feel threatened or at risk.

Bassetlaw District Council brings more CCTV Refuge Points to Worksop
Bassetlaw District Council is continuing to make Worksop a safer place by installing three more CCTV Refuge Points for people to use if they feel unsafe, threatened, or need urgent help.

Funded by the Nottinghamshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and its Safer Streets Fund, the refuge points work by connecting the person in need of assistance with the Council’s CCTV Control Room Operatives, who can contact the emergency services where necessary.

The latest refuge points are located on Bridge Street, Victoria Square and The Canch, and it is hoped that the introduction of these additional cameras will act as a deterrent and an increase a sense of safety for people visiting the town centre and the Canch.
